Hate Me Not

Long version:
Marketing is one of the very crucial things in running a business. Aye or nay? AAAAAYEEEE!!! But I reckon some marketing strategies are designed as a tool to tell people how much you hate them (or how much they hate you)

So there's this company that claims to be the world's largest health club operator called Fitness First. One of their ways to market their products i.e. memberships is to have the new members list their friends' names and phone numbers. When the friend joins, he or she will get some kind of reward and so will the person who nominates him or her.

Quite a lot of my friends have joined Fitness First. I normally get 1 phone call a month from them offering me a tour around the fitness centre plus a free trial because I have been nominated by a friend. I'm always polite whenever I get those kind of calls (my ex-housemate, whom I miss very much btw, used to work/is working in one of the call centres... so I better be good... ahhh.. sedih) although afterwards, I'll beat the hell out of the person who's put me on the list.. not really, because I'm just a good person.

A few weeks ago.. I received a phone call on my mobile from this Fitness First dude called Richard. As I normally do, I listened to him saying his crap before politely rejected his offer. They always say who put down your contact on the list. A friend from uni was the reason for that call.

I... have 2 mobile phones.. but they're with different providers. Not that I need 2 or anything, but because I can use one of them to call my friends for free.. totally FREE! I normally use it only to make that free calls.

At the end of the day I got that phone call from Richard, there's a missed call on that phone with no number. I called up mom, dad, etc asking whether they rang me. Nobody did.

The next day, there was another call from a no number.. picked it up, and it was Richard. Apparently that lovely friend of mine has listed both of my numbers. While Richard was pretty amazed that I have 2 mobiles - because when I said "Hi Richard, it's Pam, you rang me up yesterday" he didn't say a thing for a while before saying "You have 2 phones???" in confusion.

Do you think I look so unfit, so my friend had to list 2 of my numbers there to make sure that Fitness First can reach me? Do you think she did that to get the reward? I think she hates me... and she hates me more than my other friends.. Booooooooooo!!!!!
